CORAL GABLES, Fla. (AP) -- The Miami Hurricanes have completed
their first practice in preparation for the Sun Bowl against Notre
Dame.
It was also the first practice since the dismissal of head coach
Randy Shannon, who was fired Nov. 27 following a 7-5 regular
season.
Jeff Stoutland, who has been the offensive line coach the last
four seasons, has stepped into the interim coach role. Saturday's
practice was the first of nine practices in Coral Gables before
traveling to El Paso, Texas.
Stoutland moved backup quarterback A.J. Highsmith to defensive
back and linebacker Jordan Futch to tight end. Stoutland has not
decided who will start at quarterback.
