Valdosta, Georgia - The Valdosta State football team was happy about winning the conference last year, but they weren't satisfied.

The Blazers are looking for their first national title in four years.

The key will be holding on to the football.

"The big thing for us is to not turn the ball over," Head Coach David Dead said. "Last year we turned the ball over, we didn't finish off drives with turnovers. We gotta be able to do that this year."

And, so far, with two days until the season opener, Dean likes what he sees.

"Our offensive line is playing well, making some good decisions up there, blocking well, playing together real well, which we haven't had in quite awhile," he said.

"I think we have three real good quarterbacks. That's good to say. We're pretty deep at that position right now. So, for the most part, we're on our way to getting to where we want to be, we're not there yet."

Speed has also been a strength for the Blazers since Dean took over.

"Speed has usually been on our side, I'll say that," said Austen Roberts, a Senior Quarterback. "But this year we really do have some athletes who can make some big plays."
