Joe Taylor says,
"I'm just starting off, I just want to apologize to the community, to the student body."
FAMU head coach Joe Taylor's remarks speak for themselves following FAMU's 19-0 home opening loss to South Carolina State. The Rattlers had opportunities throughout the ball game to end the Rattlers 7 game losing streak to the Bulldogs, but in the end, finished on the wrong side of the column.
"Three things we talked about today. We wanted to play with our heads, we wanted to play with our feet and play with our heart. I think if you looked at special teams and you look at defense, you just hurt for them because they really played hard."
The defense played well enough to win the game in Coach Taylor's mind. They only allowed 9 points to the Bulldogs through three quarters, but it's hard to win if you do not put any points on the board.
"That is frustrating. Like I said before, you really hurt for the defensive guys who, again, played well enough to win."
The bye week seems to come at the perfect time for FAMU. A week off to rest their legs and regroup to get ready for another conference showdown with Savannah State.
