FAMU Football Players Host Foster Youth

TALLAHASSEE—Florida A&M University football players will give a pep talk to area foster youth about how to win at the game of life despite tough circumstances as part of National Adoption Month. Seven foster children, some with disabilities that leave them wheelchair-bound, will participate in practice at 3:00 p.m. today, Nov. 15, and will be introduced on the field during half-time of the FAMU vs. Delaware State game on Saturday, Nov. 16, at Bragg Memorial Stadium, 1500 Wahnish Way in Tallahassee.

Some FAMU players who have had experiences with foster care will talk personally with the children during today’s practice.

FAMU is partnering with the Governor’s Office of Adoption and Child Protection, the Department of Children and Families, and Big Bend Community Based Care to provide this opportunity. Some 750 children in foster care are available for adoption without an identified family.
