TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (April 29) - Jennifer Lindsey pitched a one-hitter as the Florida A&M Softball Team handed South Carolina State, a 4-0 loss, here Sunday afternoon in Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference action at the Lady Rattler Softball Complex.
FAMU (21-27, 7-4 MEAC) pounded out a game high ten hits as three Lady Rattlers finished with two hits each, while Whitney Robinson drove in three runs on the day.
SCSU (14-26, 3-9 MEAC) finished the contest with one hits as Shannon Baity broke up the Lindsey no-hitter in the top of the third inning.
Lindsey (10-8) picked her tenth win of the season as she struck out eight and giving up one hit in the 23 batters she faced, while Vianney Gomez received the loss for the Lady Bulldogs as she gave one earned runs and struck out one in six innings of work.
Robinson collected her first RBI of the day as she singled to left center scoring Alyssa Weaver, who singled in her at-bat, giving the Lady Rattlers a 1-0 lead.
FAMU would plate three more runs in the bottom of the fifth inning as Robinson doubled to left field scoring both Kieifi Myrick and Ashanti Shepherd. Then Arianna Stewart would single to left field scoring Christina Robbs, for the 4-0 finale.
The Lady Rattlers will close out their 2012 season as they will face Bethune-Cookman in a three-game conference series with a single a game slated for Friday, May 4 at 3 p.m., broadcasted lived on ESPNU and a doubleheader on Saturday, May 5 in a 1 p.m., for senior day at the Lady Rattler Softball Complex.
