Tallahassee, FL - Wakulla High School's Marshane Godbolt was one of five local football players to sign with FAMU on Wednesday. And he couldn't be happier. His family can spend the next four years watching his every move in a Rattler jersey.
"My family, they've been a big part of my career," Godbolt said. "I don't think they ever missed a game. So it's very big because they can come down the road, 20 minutes, and watch a game. So, I'm excited."
Maclay's Lee Williams, Florida High's Jamal Gay and North Florida Christian's Drew Sarvary and Caleb Helms will join Godbolt next season.
"I just like the campus and the atmosphere over there and I can't wait for the Fall," Williams said.
"It's not just gonna be mom and pop coming," Taylor said. "The neighborhood can come. They watched those guys grow up. They watched them through high school. Now they can come right to the Hill."
Coach Joe Taylor has made it a priority, since taking over in 2007, to attract some of the area's best talent.
"They're very competitive, they're well coached, fundamentally sound," he said. "To get those guys who come through those quality programs, they already know how to win."
FAMU wrapped up signing day with about 25 signees, but Taylor expects other verbal commitments to join the program in the coming months.
