It had been over a month since the FAMU Rattlers had played on their home court.
And it was a great homecoming for both teams, not only were the crowds one of the largest of the season, but both teams pulled out victories over MEAC opponents, the Howard Bison.
The Women's team, who kicked off the double header, was lead by junior Antonia Bennett. Bennett scored a total of 27 points, leading her team to a 80-75 victory. It was a big win for the Lady Rattlers. Howard defeated FAMU three times last season, and it was their second consecutive MEAC win.
The Men came out looking to grab their first MEAC victory. Plagued by injuries, the Rattlers have struggled so far this season, and have had to depend on players like Larry Jackson, Amin Stevens and freshman point guard and Rickards Alum Avery Moore.
The Rattlers were able to get the outcome they wanted with a 45-38 victory over the Bison. It was a defense dominated game, as both teams didn't reach the 20 point mark until the second half. Head Coach Eugene Harris said he believed his team played the best defense they have all season during that first half.
