Tallahassee, Fla -- The FAMU offense took a hit when it lost thousand yard rusher Philip Sylvester. This spring the offense turns to the air with quarterbacks Austin Trainor and Tyler Bass.
FAMU head football coach Joe Taylor says,
"They both understand how important that position is. Together they are communicating more, they're sharing more and that's just like any other relationship, it takes time. As each day goes by I see them communicating more."
Trainor led the Rattlers to three wins in three starts last season and is listed as the number one quarterback on the depth chart. That experience has helped him mature into more of a vocal leader in the huddle.
FAMU quarterback Austin Trainor adds,
"As the quarterback you're the leader on the field whether you want to be or not so I took full responsibility for that and I mean the guys have to respect me in the huddle even if I'm a younger guy but, I still need the respect otherwise the offense won't move very well up and down the field."
Bass transferred to FAMU from Memphis in January and is still working his was into they system.
FAMU quarterback Tyler bass adds,
"Coach Taylor reminded me, it's only your fourth practice with the team, only your first practice in a new offense. Overall like I said I felt like I underperformed and need to do a lot better in order for to put us in a position to win."
Joe Taylor adds,
"He gets a little frustrated at times because it is a new system but we're telling him the idea is we have a better team because we do have two solid quarterbacks."
Trainor adds,
"It's a competition but at the same time we're on the same team so we're the same family. You just have to learn to work with it."
One that will last throughout spring and into the start of fall camp.

I wish Tyler Bass was still on the team here. Good luck to him.
