TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (May 8) - The Florida A&M Lady Rattlers faced the South Carolina State Lady Bulldogs today in game three of the weekend MEAC series at the Lady Rattlers Softball Complex. The Lady Rattlers would prevail on a very special day.

Athletic Director Michael Smith and Senior Women's Administrator Faydre Hawkins Brown were there to present her framed photo on behalf of the FAMU Department of Athletics. In a tribute to Garcia's Mexican heritage, her bio was also read in Spanish by FAMU athletic trainer Yadisha Ortiz-Torres. Garcia's parents had traveled to experience the game with her.
In the first inning, the Lady Bulldogs used a two-out rally to score three runs. Jennifer Lindsey started the game on the mound for the Rattlers, but was relieved by Whitney Robinson after two outs in the first inning. Robinson would come in to shut down the Bulldogs and get out of the first inning.
The Lady Bulldogs would score another run in the top of the third inning, before the Lady Rattlers rallied to score seven in the bottom of the third.
Jasmin Donaldson, led the Lady Rattlers with three hits. She scored the first run for FAMU after an infield single and a steal. After advancing to third base on a Christina Robbs groundout, Francesca Singletary grounded out to bring in Donaldson. That would end the scoring for the Lady Rattlers until the third inning, where they seized control.
Erika Garcia got into the scoring action in the third inning with a double to the wall, advancing to third on the outfielder's throw, and coming home to score to a thunderous ovation from the crowd. The Lady Rattlers scored seven runs on seven hits and two errors in the inning.
The Lady Rattlers used a balanced hitting attack to outlast the Lady Bulldogs. Tera Gainer, Britany Doty, Genesis Lopez and Garcia each got two hits for FAMU.
In the fifth inning, SCSU's Sonya Giles took a Whitney Robinson fastball just inside the left field foul pole to add another score for SCSU. Giles, would end up going 2-for-4 four, with three RBIs.
