FAMU Swept By North Carolina A&T

GREENSBORO, N.C. (April 7) - The Florida A&M Baseball team dropped a doubleheader to North Carolina A&T as the Aggies won game 8-1 and blanked the Rattlers, 6-0 in game two, here Saturday afternoon at War Memorial Stadium.

FAMU (5-30, 3-8 MEAC) finished the contest with nine hits as Jarryd Reid finished the contest three-for-four from the plate.

N.C. A&T (12-18, 6-5 MEAC) tallied 11 hits in game one as they had three Aggies to finish with two hits each.

Paulino Estarlin (4-3) picked up the win for N.C. A&T as he struck out 11 batters, allowing one earned runs and seven hits in eight innings on the mound, while David Duncan (1-5) received the loss for the Rattlers he pitched seven and one-third inning, giving up nine hits, six earned runs and striking out four.

The Aggies scored the first runs of the game as they took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning as Andre McKoy scored on a Marquis Riley single, followed by Kelvin Freeman sacrifice fly to right field scoring Dairin Little.

FAMU score their lone run in the top of the second inning as Aaron Smith ground out to the pitch, scoring Reid, who tripled in his at-bat, cutting N.C. A&T’s lead to 2-1.

The Aggies would go on to win game on 8-1 as they scored two runs in the second, one in the third and three in the eight inning.

In game two, the Rattlers would manage four hits, while the Aggies tallied a game high 10 hits.

McKoy led the Aggies from the plate as he went a perfect three-for-three from the plate, while Scott Sheplak finished with two hits to lead the Rattlers.

Tyler Boone (3-4) picked the win in game two for N.C. A&T as he gave up four hits, and struck out two in seven innings on the mound for the Aggies, while John Roberts (0-4) received the loss as he gave up six hits, three earned runs and striking out three in three and one-third inning of work.

The Aggies would score their first run of the game in the bottom of the second inning as Colby Keene scored on a FAMU error, giving N.C. A&T a 1-0 lead.

N.C. A&T would go on to win the contest 6-0 as they scored three runs in the fourth and two runs in the sixth.

The Rattlers will return to action on Sunday, April 8 as they will take on North Carolina A&T at War Memorial Stadium to close out their three-game Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference series, in a 12 p.m. start.
