BALTIMORE, Md . (Nov. 19) - The Florida A&M University Volleyball team advanced to the semifinal round of the 2010 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Volleyball Tournament as they defeated Morgan State, 3-0 (31-29,26-24,25-20) here Friday afternoon at the Coppin State Physical Education Center on the campus of Coppin State University.
FAMU (12-13) finished the match with 51 kills, while MSU (6-20) tallied 44.
Katherine Huanec was the only Lady Rattlers to finish in double-digit kills as she tallied a game high 21 kills. Diana Gonzalez led the team assists with 19, while second-team all-conference performer Susan Egoavill led the team in digs with a game high 18. Egoavill, just needs 25 more digs to become FAMU’s all-time career digs leader, surpassing Emerald Smith, who has 1,447 career digs.
MSU has three Lady Bears to finish in double-digit kill as both Dominique Bozier and Ngebui Chafeh finished with 11 kills each, followed by Erin Cox with 10. Jourdan Lemons led MSU in assist with a game high 30, while Dina Beamon led the team in digs with 17.
Up next for the Lady Rattlers will be Delaware State as they will face the Lady Hornets in the semifinal round of the 2010 MEAC Volleyball Tournament on Saturday, Nov. 20 in a 3:30 p.m. match up at the Coppin Physical Education Center on the campus of Coppin State.
