Thousands of Rattlers are pouring into the capital city this weekend for FAMU Homecoming 2011.

FAMU's homecoming convocation was at 10am.

The Florida A&M Homecoming Parade will take place this Saturday, October 8, 2011 at 8:00a.m. The parade will start at the intersection of Monroe Street and Brevard Street. It will continue south down Monroe ending at Gaines Street. Parade-goers are encouraged to bring chairs and set up along the parade route to view the 100 plus entries participating in this exciting event.
There will be ample parking for the parade, but get there early as the actual parade route will be shutdown at 7:30 a.m. for staging of floats and participants. All parking, including handicapped vehicles can park in the Kleman Plaza garage on Duval Street. All metered spots in the downtown area will be open, with no charge for parking.
The parade route will be closed until approximately 11:00 a.m. TPD is asking drivers to plan an alternate route to arrive at their destination during the parade.
“We are excited to be participating in this wonderful event and hope everyone enjoys this one of kind parade honoring the FAMU experience” said Police Chief Dennis Jones.
