Hammond, LA -- December 16. 2011 --
The Florida A&M Women’s Basketball team picked up their fourth win of the season as they defeated Northwestern State 77-53, here Friday afternoon at the University Center in their first game of the Southeastern Louisiana Christmas Classic.
FAMU (4-5) was led by Antonia Bennett as she finished with a double-double scoring 24 points and pulling down 14 rebounds, followed b y Tameka McKelton with 18 points. Qiana Donald led the Lady Rattlers on the boards with 14 rebounds.
The Lady Rattlers went into the break with a 38-27 leads as they finished the first half shooting 33.3 percent (14-of-42) percent, while the Lady Demons also shot 33.3 percent (9-of-27).
NWSU(3-6) was paced by both Trudy Armstead and Ronikka Drake as they both finished with 11 points each, followed by Meredith Graf with 10 points. Armstead led the Lady Demons on the boards with eight rebound.
FAMU held the rebounding margin as they out rebounded the Lady Demons 55-41.
The Lady Rattlers will return to action on Saturday, Dec. 17 as they will take on tourney host Southeastern Louisiana at 4 p.m. CST at the University Center in their final game of the Southeastern Christmas Classic.
