HAMMOND, La. (Dec. 17) - The Florida A&M Women’s Basketball Team finished the Southeastern Christmas Classic undefeated as they defeated Southeastern Louisiana University, 85-63 here Saturday afternoon at the University Center.
FAMU (5-5)had four Lady Rattlers to score in double-figures as Kimberly Sparkman scored a game high 23 points to leads all scorers. Behind her was Qiana Donald with 17 points and seven rebounds, followed by Tameka Mckelton with 15 points and Keturah Martin with 10. Jalessa Blue pulled down a team high 10 rebounds to lead the Lady Rattlers on the boards, while Martin dished out a team high seven assists.
The Lady Rattlers finished the first half shooting 48.6 percent (18-of-37), while the Lady Lions shot 33.3 percent (9-of-27) as FAMU went into the break with a 44-24 lead.
SELA (4-7) had three Lady Lions to score in double-figures as Jessica Sommers scored a team high 14 points from off the bench, followed by Aja Gibson with a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds, while Amber Crenshaw rounded out the cast of Lady Lions in double-figures with 10 points.
FAMU held the rebounding margin over SELA 50-35.
The Lady Rattlers will return to action on Tuesday, Dec. 20 as they will take on Austin Peay in a 7 p.m. CST start in Clarksville, Tenn.
