Tallahassee, FL -- Once again the annual meeting between Bethune-Cookman and FAMU in the Florida Classic will have more than just state bragging rights on the line.
Head coach Joey Taylor says, "Husband and Wife aren't speaking with each other this week because one went to Bethune and the other went to FAMU."
Norfolk State has already clinched the MEAC and a FCS playoff birth, but second place is on the line in the conference.
"They're in our way to go to the playoffs and we're trying to have an extended season," adds senior wide receiver Kevin Elliott We haven't been to the playoffs in 10 years so we're all very exuberant and working hard this week."
Senior safety Greg Harvey adds, "I love playing under pressure and knowing that we have something else to achieve so I think it makes it a lot more exciting, it makes the rest of our team be that much more determined to play."
Last season FAMU was co-conference champions with Bethune-Cookman and South Carolina State and was left out of the postseason. There will be no three way tie this year.
"It's a huge stage. It's a big stage. It's great for both universities and the alumnus," adds Taylor. "It's great for the young men because this is something they'll remember for the rest of their lives."
FAMU has won the last three Classic's and for the seniors, they hope it's all smiles when the clock hits zero on Saturday.
