SAVANNAH, Ga. (March 31) - Maddison Hedderly gave up five hits and did not allow a run as Savannah State pulled out a 2-0 win over the Florida A&M Softball Team, here Saturday evening at Tiger Field.
SSU (12-18, 1-0) was led by Jamie Paolini as she went a perfect three-for-three from the plate as the Lady Tigers finished with a game high six hits.
FAMU (14-21, 0-1 MEAC) was led by Tenisha Dixon as she went two-for-two from the plate as the Lady Rattlers finished with five hits.
Hedderly (9-9) picked up the win for SSU as she went the distance, striking out four in seven inning on the mound, while Whitney Robinson(6-9) received the loss for the Lady Rattlers as she gave up four hits, and one earned run in three innings on the mound.
The Lady Tigers scored their two runs as Amber Hallman scored on a Paolini double in the bottom of the first inning. Then Tiffany Davies would single to left field scoring Arion Hagood, for the 2-0 finale in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Due to inclement weather, the Lady Rattlers will return action on Sunday, April 1 as they will conclude their three-game Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference series with Savannah State with game one slated to start at 12 p.m., and game two thirty minutes immediately following.
