Tallahassee, FL - Florida State’s Cierra Bravard has been named an All-Region Nominee for the 2011 NCAA Division I State Farm Coaches’ All-America Team, the WBCA announced Wednesday.

Bravard is one of seven student-athletes in Region 2 to earn the honor.

On, Monday, March 21, the State Farm Coaches' All-America Team selection committee will review the 52 total national candidates and trim the list to 40 finalists, all of whom will be in the running for selection to the 10-member State Farm Coaches' All-America Team.

Bravard, who earned All-ACC First Team honors earlier this month, has led the FSU women’s basketball team into its seventh consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance.

The Sandusky, Ohio native is averaging career highs in points, rebounds and minutes played and her 14.6 ppg and 7.6 rpg are both team highs.

The Seminoles play Sunday night at 5 p.m. ET against Samford to start the NCAA Tournament. FSU is a No. 3 seed in the Dallas Region.

An equation to determine the number of regional nominees is use to ensure a fair number of candidates from each region. The number of Division I institutions in each region is divided by the number of Division I institutions overall to get a percentage for each region. Multiply 52 (the total number of desired finalists) by the percentage to get a number of finalists for each region. The 52 All-Region Team members then go before the selection committee, which reduces the list to 40 finalists. These 40 finalists can come from any region. Per a motion passed by the WBCA Board of Directors in 2008, Region 1 has 12 finalists and Region 4 has six finalists.

The State Farm Coaches' All-America Team for NCAA Division I will be announced at 9 a.m. ET Saturday, April 2, in Indianapolis during the WBCA National Convention, which is held in conjunction with the NCAA® Women's Final Four®.
