Tallahassee, FL - One of Kenny Knox's favorite moments sits in a glass case. Two pictures and a letter. There, a young Knox is arm-in-arm with Jack Nicklaus. Adjacent to that photo, Nicklaus and Palmer are standing side-by-side on the golf course. Both are Knox's boyhood idols. The pictures are a memory of the Masters in the late 1980s.

"I grew up a golf traditionalist," said Knox, who is originally from Columbus, Ga. but moved to Tallahassee at 16 years old. "So, I was in awe of those people. So it was actually nice to actually earn my way to the Masters."

Knox, a Florida State alum, played at Augusta five times during his 15-year career on the PGA Tour.

"I said I would never even go to the tournament unless I played in it and fortunately I did in 1986," he said.

And although Knox didn't win a green jacket, he still tapped in many memories.

"My fond memories was playing practice rounds with Jack Nicklaus, predicting that he would win the whole tournament in 1986 on camera," Knox said, "and I was the only one to predict that."

Now retired, the 56-year-old watches the tournament from afar. It still holds a special place in his heart.

"I think it was the first major championship that my mother and father went to," he said.

For Knox, it was an experience best summed up in that case.
