TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (seminoles.com) – The ACC Champion Seminole Men’s Basketball team will change into the FSU Men’s Basketball Glee Club as the 15-member team takes to the stage at Spear-It Night 2012 where they will sing the Florida State Alma Mater in a campus-wide competition Thursday at 7:00 in the Oglesby Student Union Ballroom. The Seminoles will trade in their sneakers and basketballs for tuning forks and a song known by all Seminoles: “High O’er Towering Pines”.
Spear-it Night showcases student talent through the Alma Mater singing, unique talent, and the “Biggest Fan on Campus” competitions.
“Our guys are excited to display the talents they practice when they are not practicing basketball,” said 2012 ACC Coach of the Year Leonard Hamilton. “I don’t think our guys are ready for “The Voice” but we are excited to participate in the Homecoming festivities. I’m not sure how good we are but we hope to perform at an ACC Championship level.”
The Seminoles, who play their first exhibition of the season on Oct. 30 at the Donald L. Tucker Center, will then participate in the annual Homecoming Parade through campus on Friday.
“We are honored to have our nationally recognized men’s basketball team participate in this event,” said Jenna Pullara, Director of Spear-It Night. “For them to take time out of their schedule to practice for this event says a lot about their dedication to Florida State University. We are all looking forward to hearing them on Thursday and watching them all season long as they play for another championship on the court.”
