FSU Men's Basketball Set To Host First Exhibition

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (seminoles.com) – The Florida State men's basketball team, which is ranked No. 24 in the preseason ESPN/USA Today Coaches’ poll, plays its first of two exhibition games in preparation for the upcoming season as it plays host to Lincoln Memorial University Tuesday (Oct. 30) at 7:00 p.m. in the Donald L. Tucker Center.

The game is a pre-Halloween celebration and fans are encouraged to come in their most outrageous and creative costumes. There will be candy given out to trick-or-treaters and prizes will be awarded to the best costumed fans in attendance.

The Seminoles won their first ACC Championship and begin the 2012-13 season looking to become the first team other than Duke or North Carolina to win consecutive ACC Championships since 1995 and 1996.

Lincoln Memorial is a member of the South Atlantic Conference and returns eight of its top 11 scorers from the 2011-12 season. The Railsplitters advanced to their second consecutive NCAA Tournament and finished the season with a 26-6 overall record. Lincoln Memorial advanced to the semifinals of the Southeast Regional in the NCAA Division II Tournament before it was eliminated by the University of Montevallo, 61-60.

Led by ACC Tournament MVP and preseason All-American Michael Snaer, the Seminoles return four of their top five scorers from a team that finished 25-10 overall, captured the school’s first ACC championship and earned a school-record fourth straight NCAA berth under two-time (2009 and 2012) ACC Coach of the Year Leonard Hamilton.

Florida State, which advanced to the third round of the NCAA, finished third in the ACC standings with a 12-4 record and defeated an ACC-best six ranked teams, was 4-1 last season against Duke and North Carolina and beat the ACC’s four Tobacco Road teams (Duke, North Carolina, NC State and Wake Forest) in the same season for the first time in school history.

Florida State will play host to St. Leo University in its second exhibition game Nov. 5 at 7:00 before opening its regular season against South Alabama at home on Nov. 9th at 7:00 p.m.. The Seminoles’ game against St. Leo will be played to benefit the Aubry Boyd Foundation.

Admission for Tuesday night's game is free and general seating is available.
