GREENSBORO, N.C. (seminoles.com) – Florida State heads back to Greensboro, N.C., site of its last conference title in 2010, for the 2012 ACC Baseball Championship as the No. 1 overall seed for the ninth time in school history. The Seminoles will open the tournament against eighth-seeded Georgia Tech on Wednesday, May 23 at 11:00 a.m., as announced by the Atlantic Coast Conference on Sunday afternoon.

As the No. 1 overall seed, Florida State (43-12, 24-6 in ACC play) will be placed in Division A and will be joined by No. 4 Virginia (36-16-1, 18-12), No. 5 Clemson (32-24, 16-14) and No. 8 Georgia Tech (32-24, 12-18).

The Seminoles will face Clemson in their second game of the tournament on Friday, May 25 at 3:00 p.m. and will conclude pool play on Saturday, May 26 taking on No. 4 Virginia at 3:00 p.m.

Under the pool-play format, each team will play one game against each of the other three opponents in its division Wednesday-Saturday (May 23-26). The two teams with the best records within their respective division brackets will advance to the title game on Sunday, May 27 at 12:00 p.m., with the winner earning the ACC's automatic berth into the NCAA Tournament.

This marks the second time in conference history that the ACC Baseball Championship will be held in Greensboro. In 2010, Florida State, who entered the tournament as the No. 5 seed, defeated NC State 7-3 in the finals to capture its fifth ACC title in school history.

The Baseball Championship has been held in the state of North Carolina on seven previous occasions with six of those championships being played in Durham. FSU owns a record of 17-11 all-time when the ACC Baseball Championship is played in North Carolina. The Seminoles have played for the conference championship four times in Durham, in 1996, 1998, 2009 and 2011 and the only time the tournament was played in Greensboro in 2010.

North Carolina (42-13, 22-8) is the No. 2 seed and will be joined in Division B by No. 3 NC State (38-15, 19-11), No. 6 Miami (34-19, 16-14) and No. 7 Wake Forest (32-22, 13-17).

All 13 games of this year's 39th annual ACC Baseball Championship will be televised for the sixth straight year with RSN, a regional network that includes Comcast SportsNet Mid-Atlantic, FOX Sports Net South, FOX Sports Florida and New England Sports Network, providing coverage. Selected other games will be available via Sun Sports and SportsSouth. Check local listings for more details. Sunday’s championship game will air on ESPN2 for the first time league history.

All games of the ACC Tournament will be live-streamed via the Internet by ESPN3. In addition, Sirius 93 will broadcast all 13 games live via satellite radio, and every game with exception of the Wednesday and Friday 7:00 p.m. games will also be broadcast live via satellite radio on XM 190.
