FSU's Big Win Over Miami Has 'Noles Flying Again

Florida State is on the move up the national polls. The Seminoles climbed to No. 16 in the Associated Press poll and No. 17 in the USA Today Coaches poll following their 45-17 rout of Miami Saturday night at Sun Life Stadium.

First-year coach Jimbo Fisher, who celebrated his 45th birthday by hanging 45 points on the Hurricanes, scored his first career victory against a ranked opponent. Consequently, the Seminoles made the second largest jump in either poll, by climbing seven spots after the win over Miami. The Hurricanes (No. 13 AP; No. 14 USA Today) were knocked from the polls by the defeat in front of a sellout crowd of 75,115 and are now 3-2 on the year and 1-1 in ACC play.

Only South Carolina, which knocked off No. 1 Alabama and defending national champions’ 19-game winning streak, made a greater climb this week than FSU. The Gamecocks jumped nine spots with the victory; two more than the Seminoles.

Florida State (5-1, 3-0 ACC) is the lone Atlantic Coast Conference team in the national polls this week. By winning a fourth consecutive game, the Seminoles matched their longest winning streak since 2008, when a 30-20 win over Virginia Tech vaulted them to No. 16 in the AP poll on Oct. 26. This equals FSU highest ranking by AP pollsters since they made their last top 10 appearance early in the 2006 season. The ‘Noles opened that season at No. 11 and climbed to No. 9 with a win over Miami in the opener but lost to Clemson and NC State in a three game stretch and fell from the rankings.

The Seminoles entertain Boston College (2-3, 0-2 ACC) Saturday at 12 noon in a game that will be televised by ESPN.

I'm so proud to be a NOLE! Thank you for shutting up them scUM fans! Their luck finally ran out! No doubt FSU punched them right in the mouth, and they didn't see it coming. Please keep up with the improvment! I would love to see a UF beat down go the opposite way for once.
