Final Home Track & Field Meet of the Year This Friday and Saturday

Tallahassee, FL - The Florida State men’s and women’s track & field teams will host the final home meet of the season Friday and Saturday with the running of the 2011 FSU Twilight.

Starting Friday at 6:30 p.m. with the women’s javelin throw, the first day will conclude with the 8:25 p.m. start of the men’s 5000m run. Saturday will then begin at 3 p.m. with the women’s hammer throw and the two-day meet will come to an end at 9:10 p.m. with the men’s 4x400m relay.

In the women’s pole vault, Julia Gibson, Stephanie Wenke, Callie Giffin, Lauren Giffin and Lizbeth Mabry will all be in action for the ’Noles. The men’s pole vault will feature Collin Lomagistro, Charles Janson, Drew Marcello, Warren Harper, John Kennedy and Andrew Lahaye.

Phillip Young will be the lone FSU athlete in the men’s triple jump. The women’s long jump will have Amy Harris and the men’s long jump will showcase Paul Madzivire and ACC Champion Ngoni Makusha.

Latera Davis and Michelle Jenije will compete in the women’s triple jump. As for the high jump, Margo Zwerling, Colleen Schwab and Danielle Williams will be participating.

In the throwing events, Chelsea Whalen will be featured in the women’s javelin and Daniel Salgado and Lomagistro will compete in the men’s javelin. Whalen will also compete in the shot put along with teammates Kamorean Hayes and Allyn Laughlin.

Hayes will also compete in the women’s discus throw. ACC men’s field MVP Michael Putman will put his skills to the test in the men’s shot put and men’s discus throw. Shanea Rufus and Trevor Andrews will be in action in the women’s and men’s hammer throws.

In the sprints, Marecia Pemberton will run in the women’s 100m dash invitational while Kemar Hyman and David Ambler will do the same in the men’s invitational. Teona Rodgers, Latera Davis and Bianca Smith will then run in the women’s 200m dash invitational and Charles Clark, Brian Chibudu and Brandon O’Connor will do so for the men in the same event.

The women’s 100m dash will feature a plethora of Seminoles. Harris, Danielle Jeffery, Smith and Rodgers, who will also compete in the 100m hurdles, will run in the first section and Amber Cambridge, Morgan McGhee and Briana Emanuel will be in the second.

Emanuel, Smith and Cambridge will also test their skills in the women’s 200m dash. Kevin Williams and Lomagistro will run in the men’s 200.

The men’s 400m hurdles invitational will see Tremaine Grant, who will also run in the 110m hurdles, and Brix Gomez. Joining Grant in the men’s 110m hurdles will be Salgado and Justin Byrd.

Marsha Ariol, Maxwell Hyman and Young will each be taking part in the 400m hurdles and the men’s and women’s 400m dashes will have Davis, Marsha Ariol, Pablo Navarette and Salgado all in competition.

In the women’s 4x100m relay, Jeffrey, Pemberton, Rodgers and Brittany St. Louis will join forces while Davis, Christal Washington, St. Louis and Ariol run together in the women’s 4xx400m relay.

Washington will also be featured in the women’s 800m run and Darrin Gibson, John Frellner, Navarette and Daniel Silva will be in the men’s 800.

In addition to the Seminoles, competitors from schools such as Florida, Kennesaw State, North Florida, Embry-Riddle and Samford, among others, will be in action.
