IOWA CITY, Iowa- Senior Michael Neubacher finished the U.S. Winter National Championships with a sixth-place finish on the platform on Sunday. Neubacher’s performance was a perfect finish for the men as the Seminoles earned first-place in the team competition.

“Four out of five of them scored in the finals so it was a complete team effort,” diving coach Patrick Jeffrey said. “We had a really great presence here and that was great for Florida State. I think a lot of the other divers wished they were on our team with the way we supported each other.”

Florida State earned 83 points to edge out the Longhorn Aquatic Club for first, USC was third. Neubacher closed out the meet with a six dive total of 401.30 against some of the top competition in the world. The Orlando, Fla., native was consistent throughout earning a score of seven or above on five of his six dives. Senior Landon Marzullo did not make the finals finishing 14th while sophomore Nick Klein placed 18th.

“Mike really put it together today and I’m really proud of him,” Jeffrey said. “I don’t think I could have asked for anything else from him today.”
