TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – For the first time in school history, the Florida State women’s basketball team will host Notre Dame and travel to Pittsburgh and Syracuse next season.
The Atlantic Coast Conference released the league’s opponent assignments for the 2013-14 season on Wednesday and the Seminoles will meet the Fighting Irish, the Panthers and the Orange for the first time ever as those three schools join the ACC on July 1.
Florida State will play Miami and Virginia at home and on the road next season, while hosting Georgia Tech, Duke, North Carolina, Virginia Tech, Boston College and Notre Dame.
The ’Noles will travel to Clemson, Wake Forest, NC State, Maryland, Pittsburgh and Syracuse.
Season tickets for the 2013-14 season will go on sale on July 1.
The ACC also announced the Big Ten/ACC Challenge matchups earlier this month and FSU will host Michigan State, giving it another marquee matchup in Tallahassee. The Seminoles will welcome the Spartans on Dec. 4.
Florida State spent nearly the entire 2012-13 season ranked in the Top 25 and finished 23-10 overall, while capping the season in the NCAA Tournament Second Round. FSU had three All-ACC First Team selections, including rising senior forward Natasha Howard.
The Noles also return rising senior point guard Cheetah Delgado, who led FSU in assists and steals despite coming off the bench, and will welcome the debuts of redshirt sophomore Morgan Jones and highly touted incoming freshman center Kai James.
Jones was an All-Big Ten selection as a freshman at Northwestern in 2011-12 before redshirting last season after transferring to FSU. James is a consensus Top-20 recruit and played in the prestigious McDonald’s All-America Game for high school all-stars this spring.
