Tallahassee, FL - Florida State junior Chris Singleton, who earned a pair of doubles and averaged a double double in two Florida State victories last week, was named the ACC Player of the Week by the league office. Singleton scored a career-high 30 points to go along with 12 rebounds, two assists, three blocked shots and two steals in Florida State’s victory over Gardner Webb and totaled 14 points, 13 rebounds, one assist, one blocked shot and one steal in the Seminoles’ victory on the road at FIU. In Florida State’s two games last week he averaged 22.0 points and 12.5 rebounds.
Singleton enters the third week of the season averaging a double-double of 19.3 points, 10.3 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 2.8 blocked shots and 3.8 steals in the Seminoles’ first four games of the season.
Singleton was extraordinarily productive in scoring his career-high of 30 points in Florida State’s win over Gardner Webb. He made 10 of 11 shots from the field (.909), was a perfect three of three (1.000) from the 3-point line and made seven of 10 free throws. He scored 15 points in the first eight minutes of the game as he made each of his first six field goal attempts.
He finished his week with a 14 points and 13 rebound performance in road win at FIU. He made four of eight shots from the field and was a nearly perfect five of six from the free throw line in leading the Seminoles to their second road win of the season. He scored eight points in the second half including seven in a two minute span after the Panthers had closed the Seminoles’ lead to two points. Singleton’s scoring burst helped the Seminoles’ stretch their lead to as many as 23 points.
Singleton earned the first TRIPLE DOUBLE of his career with 22 points, 11 rebounds and 10 steals against UNC Greensboro (Nov. 14) and has earned DOUBLE DOUBLES in the Seminoles’ last two game against Gardner Webb His performance against UNC Greensboro earned him the first TRIPLE DOUBLE in ACC history that included double figures in steals while his DOUBLE DOUBLES against Gardner Webb and FIU mark the first time in his career that he has earned double figures in points and rebounds in back to back games.
Singleton is ranked second in the ACC with a .581 field goal shooting percentage and has a .815 shooting percentage from the free throw line – two statistics the are well above his career percentages during the first two seasons on his career. He made a career high 10 of 11 field goals in the Seminoles’ win over Gardner Webb and was a perfect seven of seven from the free throw line in Florida State’s victory over UNC Greensboro.
