Tallahassee, FL - Florida State’s Tiana Brockway was named to TopDrawerSoccer.com’s Team of the Week after scoring a goal and leading the Seminole defense to a shutout in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
Brockway sealed the game against Samford with a goal in the 65th minute to give the Seminoles a 2-0 advantage. The junior defender weaved her way in and out of traffic down the middle of the field before freeing up enough space and firing a world class shot into the upper left corner of the net from about 17 yards out. The goal was Brockway’s second of the season and first of her career in the NCAA Tournament.
The Tacoma, Wash., native was also a member of the Seminole backline that held the Bulldogs to just one shot in 90 minutes of play. The Florida State defense did allow a shot in the second half and held the Bulldogs without a shot on frame the entire match.
Brockway and the Seminoles are back in action this Friday, November 18 when Florida State faces Portland in the NCAA Tournament Second Round in Memphis, Tenn. Match time for Friday is set for 5:00 p.m. CT.
