Tallahassee, FL - The awards continued to pour in for the Florida State women’s soccer team on Wednesday as juniors Tiana Brockway and Jessica Price were honored for their efforts in leading the Seminoles to wins over a pair of ranked opponents on the road last week.
Brockway earned a spot on Soccer America’s Team of the Week as she led the Seminole defense to two shutout victories on the road against Virginia Tech and North Carolina. In addition, the Tacoma, Wash., native initiated the goal sequence that defeated the Tar Heels in double overtime of the ACC Tournament Quarterfinals.
Brockway – alongside fellow defenders Toni Pressley, Ines Jaurena and Kassey Kallman – led the Seminole defensive unit that allowed only three shots-on-goal (all by UNC) during the high-pressure week, spanning 195 minutes of play. The win at Virginia Tech saw the Seminoles limit the Hokies to three total shots (none on target) and a pair of corner kicks.
Price earned a spot on the Our Game Magazine Players to Watch list for Week 11. The Libertyville, Ill., native scored the golden goal in the 105th minute of double overtime to lead Florida State to a 1-0 upset victory over North Carolina.
Price found the back of the net against the Tar Heels putting away a loose ball in the box following a Florida State corner. The game-winner was Price's second of the season and 11th of her career, while it marked her second career golden goal.
The win over North Carolina was the first in Chapel Hill for the Seminoles in 10 visits; in addition, it marked UNC’s first-ever loss in the ACC Tournament ending a 62-game unbeaten streak (58-0-4 entering this year’s tournament).
Brockway, Price and the Seminoles return to the state of North Carolina on Friday, November 4 when they take on second-seeded Virginia in the second semifinal of the ACC Tournament in Cary, N.C., at WakeMed Park. Match is set for 7:30 p.m. and can been seen on ESPN3.com.
