TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The 12th-ranked Florida State Seminoles returned to the practice field Monday evening, eager to turn the page on the loss at NC State and begin preparation for Saturday’s pivotal Atlantic Coast Conference divisional clash with Boston College.
The Seminoles (5-1, 2-1 ACC) will be test by a Boston College passing attack that ranks second in the ACC, though the Eagles (1-4, 0-2) are in the midst of a three-game losing streak. Still, BC has been plenty potent offensively, averaging 305 yards a game through the air. The Eagles have scored more than 30 points in three of their four defeats.
“We’ve got a lot of ball left; there are six games,” FSU coach Jimbo Fisher said. “I’m very encouraged about our team, very excited about our team and I look forward to see the next six games and how the majority of the team responds. I liked the leadership after the game. I think they’ll step up and play very well and I’m looking forward to playing a great game against BC this week.”
The Parent’s Weekend game is set for a 5:30 p.m. kickoff at Doak Campbell Stadium and will be televised nationally on ESPN2.
FSU senior kicker Dustin Hopkins is just seven points shy of becoming the all-time leading scorer in both Florida State and Atlantic Coast Conference history. Derek Schmidt has held the Seminole school record (393 points) for 25 years, while Maryland’s Nick Novak (2001-04) also matched that point total.
FSU-Miami game will kick off at 8 p.m.
The Atlantic Coast Conference released kickoff times for the Oct. 20 televised league games and the Florida State-Miami game has once again drawn a primetime slot. The Seminoles and Hurricanes, who are battling for their respective division titles, will square off a 8 p.m. on ABC in a split national broadcast. The Seminoles played host to Clemson on ABC in the 8 p.m. time slot on Sept. 22.
