TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (seminoles.com) – Florida State volleyball middle blocker Sareea Freeman’s latest weekly award by the Atlantic Coast Conference came in record-breaking fashion as she was named the conference co-player of the week for the fourth time in her career on Monday.

Freeman joined Clemson senior middle hitter Sandra Adeleye as part of this week’s honorees within the conference, being named player/co-player of the week for the third time in her standout senior season and fourth overall. The Fresno, Calif. native got the nod from the ACC after delivering 11 kills and a .381 hitting percentage in a 3-1 victory over No. 23 Miami last Friday that decided the conference championship. She added five blocks in the contest.

As has been the case during the season, Freeman was Florida State’s prime offensive option when points were needed against a relentless Miami squad. Freeman recorded a kill on the final rally of the match to cap Florida State’s fourth-set comeback which resulted in a 29-27 set victory and the Seminoles’ fourth ACC title.

Never in school history has a Seminole volleyball student-athlete been named conference player of the week four times, including those who played in the Metro Conference. Former All-ACC standouts Aisha Thornton (1996-99) and Norisha Campbell (1998-01) previously held the school record by earning the conference honor three times in their careers.

In the regular season, Freeman finished first in the ACC and second in the nation with a .447 hitting percentage. She has 11 matches this year in which she has established double-digit kill totals and 17 matches where she recorded a hitting percentage of .400 or better.

The senior culminated the regular season with her first selection to the All-ACC Team.

The Seminoles have now had a student-athlete named ACC Player/Co-Player of the Week five times this season, marking another school record. Freeman has earned the honor three times, which junior middle blocker Ashley Neff and senior outside hitter Fatma Yildirim have been named once apiece this season. The previous record was four times held by members of the 1998 team.

Florida State enters NCAA postseason play as the sub-regional host this weekend in Tallahassee. The Seminoles, who earned a No. 9 national seed, play Hofstra in the first round of the NCAA Championship on Friday, Nov. 30 at 6:30 p.m. ET at Tully Gym.

Ticket prices and information for the Tallahassee sub-regional will be announced soon.
