Tallahassee, FL - After enjoying another tremendous week in the circle, Florida State University softball pitcher Sarah Hamilton has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Co-Pitcher of the Week, announced today by the ACC.
Hamilton’s latest weekly award marks her sixth career ACC Pitcher or Co-Pitcher of the Week honor, including her third this season. The Tallahassee native went 2-1 in contests against UCF and Virginia and finished with a 0.38 ERA along with 27 strikeouts in 18.2 innings pitched last week. She shares the honor with Maryland freshman Ashley Czechnur, who went 3-0 against Georgetown and Boston College.
Hamilton recorded her sixth career no-hitter against Virginia in an 8-0 mercy-rule victory last Saturday, moving to second-place in school history in that category. She also became the second Seminole softball student-athlete to record 900 career strikeouts in Sunday’s 6-1 rubber-game victory. She currently stands at 909 for her career and needs just 31 more for the school record.
For the week, Hamilton allowed just one earned run. She also never allowed an extra base hit in two key starts against Virginia last weekend.
The Seminole ace also earned pitcher of the week honors on March 22 and Feb. 22.
