Tallahassee, FL - Freshman Kassey Kallman of the Florida State women's soccer program has been called up to the U.S. U-20 Women's National Team training camp which began Saturday, February 13th and will conclude on February 20th. The U.S. U-20 Women’s National Team is under the direction of coach Dave Chesler, and the camp is being held at the Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, Calif. Overall 24 players were called in for the week-long event which will culminate with a match against the University of San Diego on Saturday, Feb. 19 at 3 p.m. PT.

“We are thrilled for Kassey,” said head coach Mark Krikorian. “She came in here from day one and established herself as a competitor and I think she had a great freshman season. She came in and right away earned herself a starting position at left-back and I think she played close to 90 minutes for basically every game for us. I think she made an immediate impact to our team and was a huge competitor for us. The opportunity for her to go into her first national team camp is probably an exciting time for her, but she belongs there and I think that she has the potential to continue to grow, develop and have many more opportunities with the youth national teams.”

Following an outstanding freshman campaign in 2010, Kallman was named to the Soccer America All-Freshman first team. She was a key component to a Seminole defense that allowed an ACC low 14 goals during the regular season. Kallman played a team high 2,022 minutes and started every game during the regular season and NCAA Tournament. She also contributed to the Seminole attack registering three goals and three assists, including the game-winning goal against Central Florida. For her efforts she was also named to the ACC Second Team, ACC All-Freshman first team, and to the TopDrawerSoccer All Rookie Team.
