COLLEGE PARK, Md. – The No. 19/21-ranked Florida State women’s basketball team caps a two-game weekend road swing at No. 8 Maryland on Sunday at 1:30 p.m. ET at the Comcast Center.
The game will be televised live on ESPNU and also be broadcast on ESPN3.com, 100.7 FM WFLA and Seminoles.com.
The Seminoles improved to 12-1 for the fourth time in school history on Thursday, coming back from down nine points in the second half to defeat Georgia Tech, 85-78.
Senior point guard Morgan Toles led the way with a season-high 18 points to go along with 10 assists, three steals and no turnovers. Her scooping layup with one minute left in the game put the Seminoles ahead by 6 and her steal with 40 seconds remaining sealed the victory over the Yellow Jackets.
Senior guard Leonor Rodriguez added 23 points – her fifth 20-point game of the season, and junior forward Natasha Howard pulled down a career-best 18 rebounds and scored 18 points for her fifth double-double of the season. Howard led the ACC in double-doubles last year (12).
Maryland holds a 24-14 edge in the all-time series with the Seminoles. This season, the Terps are 10-3 and coming off of a 60-57 loss at North Carolina on Thursday night. Forward Tianna Hawkins leads the ACC in scoring (19.2 ppg) and rebounding (10.1 rpg), while reigning ACC Player of the Year Alyssa Thomas ranks in the conference’s top eight in scoring (14.8 ppg), rebounding (9.8 rpg) and assists (5.2 apg).
Last season, the Terrapins grabbed a 91-70 victory over the Seminoles in Tallahassee behind double-doubles from both Thomas and Hawkins.
However, the last time Florida State traveled to College Park on Feb. 28, 2010, the Garnet and Gold lit the Comcast Center up for school-record 12 three-pointers (on just 16 attempts) en route to a 94-61 victory.
