IOWA CITY, Iowa- Four Seminoles earned top six finishes at the U.S. Winter National Championships in Iowa City, Iowa. Seniors Landon Marzullo and Jordan Horsley teamed up to place fourth in the three-meter synchronized final while brothers Michael and Thomas Neubacher finished sixth.
“Our guys dove about as well as they could have today,” diving coach Patrick Jeffrey said. “I though that they stepped up a level at this competition and performed in a way I’ve never seen before.”
Marzullo and Horsley earned a six dive total of 381.66 which was just two points out of third position. The Neubacher brothers scored 348.96 points to earn sixth. The younger Neubacher, Thomas also placed 11th in the three-meter individual event (387.45).
“I was really proud of the way Thomas dove today,” Jeffrey said. “His degree of difficulty isn’t as high as some other divers, but he was just so consistent.”
Three Seminoles will compete on the platform on the final day of competition on Sunday. Michael Neubacher, Marzullo and sophomore Nick Klein will look to make the finals in the meet’s final event.
