The FSU volleyball team is currently (6-9) on the season... While their record isn't the best in the country, the Lady Noles might have one of the best seniors in the ACC.
FSU Outside Hitter makini Thompson had every reason to go pro. An All-ACC Selection... Team MVP Honors and a few shcool records thrown into the mix. But she's back, dressed in the Garnet & Gold, and ready to make good on her final year.
Makini Thompson, FSU Outside Hitter says:
"I knew we had the potential to be really good. I enjoy my teammates... It's a fun experience so I couldn't pass it up."
Todd Kress, FSU Head Volleyball Coach says:
"She had the opportunity where she could have graduated on time but she chose to come back and play this year using her 5th year to play and we're happy about that. She's a leader in the program."
Through 15 matches, 53 games so far this season, this 6-footer from Massachusetts is second on the team with 159 kills, third in points with 176 and 4th in blocks with 25.
"She's one of the best athletes in the ACC, one of the best outsides (outside hitters) and she means so much to this team on and off the court."
"I hope I bring excitement. I hope I make it fun to be here... Hope I'm making it a good experience for everybody."
Thompson plans on bringing that excitement eventually with her to law school, but more immediate plans are no longer a secret.
"My secret goal is i wanna play in the AVP. The Pro Beach Volleyball Tour. So I have to see how my body holdes up but I think that'd be real cool."
