Coming off a disappointing season without a playoff appearance, the Jaguars once again entered the season stacked on defense without many play makers on offense It might not be the style of play that will attract the largest crowds, but the Jaguars in '07 are proving to be a winner.
"I mean, they were undefeated at home, so we just had to crawl back for a win after a loss last week, so we work hard all week, and were fortunate enough to come out with a win," says defensive star Bobby McCray.
What makes the most recent win over the Buccaneers all the more impressive, is the fact that their starting quarterback David Garrard was sidelined with an injury, and FAMU alumnus Quinn Gray made his first NFL start.
"The funny thing was that I went up to my quarterbacks coach and was like, 'how did you sleep?' He said he slept pretty good, so that made me a little more comfortable... because if he didn't get any sleep, I probably would have been like, oh, here we go," said a content Quinn Gray after his first win.
"Quinn made a couple of timely throws now... he made a big throw in a big situation there... there's some things that we can build on, and certainly we'll need to as we go forward," said coach Jack Del Rio.
Despite a tough loss to the Colts last week at home, and in the midst of a three-game road trip, a step in the right direction has the Jaguars tied for second place in the A-F-C South Division as we approach the midway point. A winner, once again.
