ATHENS, Ga. (AP) _ Georgia basketball player Billy Humphrey has
been arrested by University of Georgia police on a felony weapons
The Athens Banner-Herald and The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
report that Humphrey, a starting guard, was charged with being in
possession of a pocket knife that was more than two inches long, a
violation of university policy.
Humphrey had 13 points in Georgia's season opener Friday against
Jacksonville State. He averaged 7.5 points per game last season.
There was no immediate word on whether he would be suspended.
He would be the third Georgia starter from last season to miss
games this season. Guard Mike Mercer was suspended for not
attending tutorial sessions, and forward Takais Brown was dismissed
from the team for violating team rules.
