The FSU soccer program hit a minor speedbump this past weekend when they lost to powerhouse North Carolina. But it was a 1-nil defeat that showed the Ladies are able to compete... They've been to the postseason tournament for each of the last 7 years. Beginning this weekend, we change that stat to each of the last 8 seasons.
FSU Soccer Coach Mark Krikorian remarked Sunday afternoon following their lost to North Carolina: "We've played 3 very tough, good opponents... Now we prepare ourselves for the selection show and hope we get a good seed and the opportunity to play at home."
That was the FSU mindset then and the opportunity to play at home came true for the lady Noles... For the 3rd straight season, FSU earns a National Seed in the NCAA tournament. That means the ladies will host the first 2 rounds of the big tourney... And that's more than enough to help the ladies bounce back from Sunday's ACC tournament loss to North Carolina.
FSU leading goal scorer Mami Yamaguchi says:
"The NCAA tournament, I hope we get to the finals and get to play North Carolina again, and beat them."
FSU's Amanda DeCosta says:
"We've been working hard all season and it's not gonna stop us because we want to win a national Championship."
The quest for the College Cup & beyond begins Friday at 4:30 when the Ladies get Kennesaw State. A win there, and they could face either LSU or Samford Sunday at 1pm.
