A wild day at Florida A and M to say the least. When the dust settles, we have Allen Bogan as the new interim Athletic Director, and not a single coach on the football team.
As we first reported last night on WCTV.TV/Sports, FAMU Athletic Director Nelson Townsend and Head Football Coach Rubin Carter have been removed from their posts. Townsend resigned earlier today, while Coach Carter still has $250 thousand that is left to be paid to him after being let go less than halfway through his 5-year contract.
"Coach Carter again has done a tremendous job in the three years that he was here as head football coach, he had to operate the football program with a number of sanctions by the NCAA reduced scholarships, problems with the academic progress rates, we thought that in the end after we had done our assessment that the football program needs to move in a new direction," says FAMU President Dr. James Ammons.
