GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) _ Although the storied rivalry may have slipped a bit out of the national spotlight, the Gators (8-3) and Seminoles (7-4) don't need any incentive to get up for their annual matchup.
It helps, though, that both teams still have plenty to play for Saturday.
Florida has an outside chance at getting a berth in the Bowl Championship Series. Even if that doesn't happen, the Gators know a
win against Florida State would essentially guarantee a New Year's
Day bowl game.
And then there is quarterback Tim Tebow's Heisman Trophy campaign.
And the Seminoles already have plenty of motivation heading into the season finale.
Not only are they playing for many of the same things as the Gators a victory could help them get back in the top 25, and more importantly, would end a three-game slid in the series.
Florida State hasn't lost four in a row to Florida since 1986.
