ATHENS, Ga. (AP) _ Billy Humphrey scored 18 points on six
3-point baskets to lead Georgia to a 58-to-47 win over Delaware
State Wednesday night in Athens.
Freshman Troy Brewer hit four 3-pointers to add 12 points for
Roy Bright led Delaware State (2-4) with 12 points, but hit just
four of 16 shots, including just two of 11 from beyond the 3-point
line. Trevor Welcher and Marcus Neal scored 10 apiece for the
Sundiata Gaines finished with four rebounds, which gives him 503
for his career. He joins Shandon Anderson as he only other player
in Georgia basketball history to amass 1,000 points, 500 rebounds
and 300 assists in his career.
Freshmen Jeremy Jacob, Zac Swansey and Brewer accounted for the
first dozen of Georgia's points during a 14-3 run in the middle of
the first half that pushed the Bulldogs' lead to 26-11, capped by a
steal and layup by Gaines with 5:42 to play in the half.
Humphrey hit three treys in the first 90 seconds of the second
half as Georgia took a 42-21 lead.
