Late punt returns help Valdosta State move to semifinals

The Blazers (11-1) will play unbeaten California University of
Pennsylvania in the semifinals next week.
Along with Reynolds and Clark's scores, the Blazers had another
special teams score in the opening quarter when Ronnye Nelson
returned a kickoff 91 yards for a touchdown.
Valdosta State trailed 23-16 with just over 11 minutes remaining
in the fourth quarter, then scored the last 21 points for the
comeback victory.
Reynolds started the Blazers' late scoring streak with a 65-yard
punt return for a touchdown and Clark then scored on an 80-yard
return to give the Blazers a 30-23 lead.
Then Valdosta State put the game on ice when Cedric Jones caught
a 3-yard touchdown from Willie Copeland. Copeland, who completed
24-of-35 passes, threw for 214 yards and also had a 26-yard
touchdown pass to Jones to give the Blazers a 13-6 lead in the
first quarter.
Jones had seven catches for 48 yards, while Jeffery Felton
caught four passes for 69 yards for Valdosta State.
A.J. Milwee, who completed 31-of-45 passes, threw for 318 yards
and had a 6-yard touchdown run for North Alabama (10-2). Jason
Messing caught seven passes for 89 yards.
Milwee also threw two touchdown passes, 32 yards to Ed Gant and
13 yards to Rocky Coleman.
