Getting to Know You: Bill Hayes

By  |

Just a few weeks after Nelson Townsend stepped down, and University President James Ammons fired head football coach Rubin Carter, the FAMU Rattlers have hired the man responsible for leading them back to the Orange and Green glory.

The name is William Hayes, and his credentials include his reign at North Carolina Central as the Athletic Director.

I'd imagine that there is no coincidence that he was brought into Central by current Rattlers President James Ammons.

In addition, rumors do swirl that another former Eagle, current Grambling head football coach Rod Broadway might also follow the road to Tallahassee as their offensive coach.

An answer to that question is expected by December 17th... but first let's get to know Bill Hayes.

FAMU Sports Information Director Alvin Hollins tells us of the newest Rattler:

"And he did a dynamic and really a tremendous job when he was at North Carolina Central. Fund-raising, facility upgrades. The quality of the overall athletic program really moved up by leaps and bound."
