Not many would argue that Bobby Bowden is not the face of Florida State football and as such, he's receiving much of the criticism surrounding the academic scandal. In fact, in today's (12-21) St. Pete Times, the editorial staff is calling for his resignation. That's something that coach Bobby Bowden won't take sitting down.
Bowden said, "I've been through this before so it's not my first rodeo. We had a whatever you call it in 1980, then we had it again in '94, you know, but it ain't time to cut and run."
Wide receiver Joslin Shaw says, "Coach Bowden is a good guy. He interacts, as you know; he teaches you just more than football. That's what you have to like about him. You know you have to respect that about a coach."
Long snapper Garrison Sanborn says, "I love coach Bowden. You know he's done a great job. This field is named after him. I mean, he's doing a great job and I mean, I think, he's going to keep doing a good job as long as he's here. So, I mean, I respect that man with everything."
Preparing for the Music City Bowl, the football team has received the brunt of the attention for the academic scandal, but as the facts unfold, you will see that it's more a university wide problem.
