MIAMI (AP) _ Tasha Humphrey scored 22 points and Angel Robinson
added 12 points and 18 rebounds as Georgia defeated Florida State
in overtime 71-62 in the Florida International University Sun And
Fun Classic today.
The Lady Bulldogs improved to 11-0 and tied their fourth best
start in school history. Florida State dropped to 9-4, snapping a
three-game winning streak in the process.
Georgia will play Florida International in the championship game
of the tournament, while Florida State faces Hofstra in the
Georgia outscored the Seminoles 14-5 in overtime led by
Robinson, who scored six of the Lady Bulldogs points in the extra
period. She scored the first two baskets of overtime on put backs
to give Georgia a 61-57 lead they would never relinquish. Florida
State made just two field goals in overtime. Robinson's rebound
total was also a career high and the most by a Georgia player since
February 23, 1994.
Mara Freshour led Florida State with 20 points, seven rebounds
and four 3-pointers. Courtney Ward added 12 points. Ashley Houts
added 13 for the Lady Bulldogs.
Georgia came within the brink of losing their first game of the
season and giving the Seminoles their first-ever victory against
the Lady Bulldogs. The Seminoles gave up a 57-52 lead with 1:21
left allowing Georgia to climb back in the game. Down five, Houts
nailed a 3-pointer from the top of the key to cut Georgia's deficit
by two, 57-55. Humphrey then nailed a fade away on the Bulldogs'
next possession to tie the game with 29 seconds before the end of
