FSU's Grit in Music City Bowl Has Coach Bowden Thinking of the Great Seminole Teams of Yesteryear

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) _ A tough month for Florida State ended
with a loss, but coach Bobby Bowden says his team showed the fight
that characterized his powerhouse Seminole teams of the late 1980s
and 90s. With some key players sidelined by an academic cheating
scandal at the school, the roster-depleted Seminoles went to the
final play before bowing 35-to-28 to Kentucky in the Music City
Bowl. The Seminoles finished 7-and-6 for a second consecutive
season. They never led and once trailed by two touchdowns after
Kentucky took advantage of a critical personal foul against Florida
State's Geno Hayes to keep alive the drive that produced a
two-touchdown lead.
