ATLANTA (AP) _ Freshman Alex Montgomery's 3-point basket with
one second remaining gave Georgia Tech a 68-65 comeback victory
over the Miami Hurricanes today.
A turnover by Albrey Grimsley with nine seconds left set the
stage for Montgomery's game-winner out of the corner. Montgomery
finished with 11 points and also blocked three shots for Tech
(15-2, 2-1 Atlantic Coast Conference).
Maurita Reid led all scorers with 18 points and eight rebounds
for Miami (8-10, 1-2).
The Yellow Jackets trailed by 11 points with 6:14 remaining,
then fought back behind Chioma Nnamaka, who hit a pair of
3-pointers, and Janie Mitchell, who added a pair of free throws.
Nnamaka led Tech with 15 points.
