It's official. The Bainbridge Bearcats don't need to fill the positions of athletic director and football coach left vacant by Ricky woods anymore, because Bainbridge has a legend coming to town. They only had to look 40 miles down the road to Thomasville as former Thomas County Central coach Ed Pilcher is trading in his navy blue for Purple. The news coming as a shock to yellow jacket nation considering his 17 years there while racking up five state titles.
"About the last three or four years it's been a situation for me personally, where I found my self being a little stagnant. A little bit in a comfort zone. I needed to recharge my batteries and do something again. I got a few more years in me and I want to try and do it one more time. I want to get something turned around. If I waited too much longer, I thought the situation might not present itself and I just thought this was a great opportunity." Says New Athletic Director and Bainbridge Head Football Coach Ed Pilcher
Now Bearcat players have to adjust as Bainbridge begins the Pilcher Era.
"I think it will be better if he brings in his option. Everybody gonna get involved in the offense. So many young guys are gonna have to step up. I think it's gonna be a good change." Says Wide Reciever Melzie Johnson
Bainbridge making out pretty well in this deal losing a big name in Ricky Woods only to get a Georgia Legend in Ed Pilcher.
