Both the men and women having some very pleasant surprises in the form of some special freshman on the squad. Freshman Latoya Wright proving to be a big addition for the Lady Rattlers.
"It's been great. She put me in the 400. The open four. I never did it in high school but she put me in it and I did great." Says freshman Runner Latoya Wright.
The best surprise of the Rattler 2007 football season was freshman running back Philip Sylvester. Now that's translating nicely to the track.
"Like any athlete that comes here and performs well, the addition is very pleasant. We're looking forward to him leading the Track team here as a freshman." Says Men's Coach Ray Robinson.
"I really enjoy track. I didn't know that I was going to enjoy it this much. It's a whole lot less stressful then football. You don't have to worry about a game plan or playing. You just have to train, lift weights, go out there and run your race." Says Freshman Runner Philip Sylvester.
Now the team heads to Baton Rouge for the LSU invite on Saturday. However, the biggest event of the year comes up on February 15th and 16th for the MEAC Indoor Championships where the Rattlers will look to take home the hardware.
