MARIANNA, Fla. (January 26, 2008) - Top-ranked Chipola College outscored Tallahassee Community College 11-6 in overtime to claim an 89-84 win over the Eagles on Saturday evening at the Milton H. Johnson Health Center.
The Indians (23-0) are now 5-0 in the league while the Eagles (16-5) fall to 2-4 in PC play.
TCC's Paul Guede hit a three-pointer with seven seconds left in regulation to tie the game at 78. Following a timeout, the Eagle defense held, forcing an errant shot by the Indians' Malik Alvin as time expired.
Alvin scored the first points of the extra period, hitting a three-pointer. Gary Flowers followed with a basket in the paint to give Chipola an 83-78 lead. TCC had the ball with a chance to tie or take the lead with a three-pointer in the final minute of overtime but a turnover sealed the Eagles' fate.
Jermanie Dixon scored 25 points to lead TCC. Mario Little matched Dixon with 25 points of his own to pace Chipola.
Tallahassee travels to Pensacola Junior College on Wednesday for an 8:30 game against the Pirates.
